The jokes come off as unnecessarily crude (there's an entire running joke about an 'ugly' prostitute, which might have been wonderfully subversive).

After that, I decide to chill at this little café on Shōwa-dōri. The coffee there? Pure magic. I order a latte, and the barista, this cool chick, draws a cat on the foam. I’m like, “Wow, you’re an artist too!” She laughs, and I’m feeling all warm inside.
